GIRL MEETS WORD

Words are my jam. They always have been. I've been creating or consuming them for as long as I can remember.

My earliest memories involve me lying on my bedroom floor, writing and illustrating storybooks . I still have tattered wide ruled spiral notebooks filled with elaborate descriptions of the sordid affairs of my 6th grade girl gang and our boy band crushes. I used to read our family's set of World Book Encyclopedias for fun. And a trip to the library...? Well, that felt like entering the pearly gates of Heaven to me!

Though I originally wanted to be an astronaut, once I entered the world of advanced math (um...not my zone of genius), I decided to stick to wordsmithing instead. This led me to:

✔ a journalism degree
✔ freelance writing/editing
✔ small business ownership
✔ an M.Ed. + teaching English and history for ten years

This winding (and sometimes weird) road has given me just the right experience to understand and overcome objections and to persuade with the best intentions.  (I mean, I've successfully persuaded high school students to do their homework. That's an art and a science in itself!)
